This page explains how Simply Useful Tech researches, writes, and publishes content — including our use of AI-assisted tools, how affiliate relationships are handled, and how we correct mistakes. We publish this policy because we believe readers deserve to know how a recommendation was made, not just what it is.
1. Editorial Independence
Our recommendations are based on research, hands-on impressions, and publicly available information — never on payment from brands or manufacturers. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored reviews, or guest posts. No company can pay to be featured or to receive a positive recommendation on this Site.
2. Editorial Standards
We aim for every piece of content to meet a consistent bar:
- Usefulness first. We start with the reader’s problem, not the product. If a cheaper or simpler answer exists, we say so plainly, even when it means recommending less.
- Plain language. Technical jargon appears only when it changes a purchasing decision, and it’s always explained in ordinary terms.
- Realistic framing. We avoid hype. A product is described as what it actually changes in daily use, not as a life-changing breakthrough.
3. Research Process
Our articles are built from a combination of manufacturer specifications, publicly available expert and owner reviews, comparison of similar products in a category, and our own editorial judgment about what matters most for everyday use. Where we have not personally tested a product, we do not claim to have done so — our comparisons focus on documented, verifiable specifications and consistent patterns across trusted third-party sources rather than invented first-hand impressions.
4. Product Recommendations
A product is only recommended when it solves a real, common problem our readers have described or asked about. We prioritize:
- Practical impact over specification sheets;
- Value for typical households over premium or niche use cases, unless a guide is specifically about premium options;
- Honest trade-offs — every recommendation includes what the product does not do well, where relevant.
Where multiple options are comparable, we may recommend more than one, along with the situation each is best suited to.
5. Affiliate Relationships
Simply Useful Tech participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and other affiliate programs. As an Amazon Associate, Simply Useful Tech earns from qualifying purchases. This means some links on the Site earn us a commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate commissions never influence which products we recommend or how we describe them. The same editorial standards in Section 2 apply whether or not a link on the page happens to be an affiliate link. For full detail, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
6. AI-Assisted Workflows
Simply Useful Tech may use AI-assisted tools for research organization, drafting support, editing support, and workflow automation. These tools help us work efficiently, but they do not publish content on their own. Published content is subject to editorial review before it goes live — factual claims, product details, and recommendations are checked, not generated and posted without oversight.
7. Human Editorial Review
Every article is reviewed before publication. This includes checking that claims are accurate and sourced appropriately, that recommendations reflect the standards in Section 2, and that the tone and framing match how Simply Useful Tech communicates with its readers. Sophie Carter is the editorial voice of the Site, and content published under her name reflects that review process.
8. Corrections and Updates
We take accuracy seriously. If you spot an error — a wrong price, an outdated spec, a broken link, or anything else — please tell us through our contact page. Corrections are reviewed and, where warranted, published quickly. We do not retroactively rewrite articles to hide a mistake; where a correction meaningfully changes a recommendation, we note it in the article.
Buying guides and reviews are periodically revisited to reflect price changes, product availability, and newer alternatives that may have entered the market since original publication.
9. Contact Us
Questions about how a specific article was researched or written are welcome. Reach us at contact@simplyusefultech.com or through our contact page.
